On December 7, students took part in a Startup Pitching Competition, modeled on the popular ABC show Shark Tank. The competition gave students the opportunity to pitch their business ideas to entrepreneurs and investors.

The U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board have announced that Purchase College senior Caleb Dowden, who hails from New Orleans, has received a Fulbright U.S. Program award. Caleb Dowden, a senior dance major, will spend next year in Benin, West Africa where she will study how movement can reclaim history while linking the African Diaspora with the African Continent.

Nine students funded by National Institutes of Health (NIH) Bridges to the Baccalaureate and MARC U*STAR grants attended the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) in Anaheim, CA, November 13-17. Professors Linda Bastone, Mark Jonas, and Joe Skrivanek, and coordinator of science student support services, Julianna Campos Lopes, accompanied the students. At the conference, over 2500 students from over 350 colleges and universities participated in poster and oral presentations in twelve STEM disciplines.

From March 31 through April 6, thirteen Purchase College students traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico with two staff and one faculty member from the college as part of a special service trip to help rebuild the island.
